Since 1981, Jelly Roll, originally the Jelly Roll Blues Band and later the Jelly Roll Morton Memorial Blues Band, has been a defining presence in Northern Michigan's live music scene. Emerging from lively open mic nights in the late '70s at City Park Grill, the band's journey includes iconic venues like the Sportsman in Boyne City, the Snowflake Lounge at Boyne Mountain, Legs Inn in Cross Village, and Horns Bar during Mackinac's yacht races. The original lineup featured Johnny Storm, Bob Crosser, Craig Stradtmiller, and "new guy" Bill Riesenbeck, with later additions like Kenny Mustang.
